Deer Antler Jewelry

The antlers of deer have long been an emblem of rebirth and renewal. As they die off seasonally and regrow each year, they are a symbol of the cyclical nature of life. Antlers are part of a single bone structure extending from the skull, typically found only on male members of the deer family.

The deer is a symbol of grace and elegance. Its antlers, with their majestic curves, are a reminder of its ability to guard itself from the dangers of the outer world. The presence of the deer brings about an aura of peace, happiness, and harmony. It is seen as a source of intuition, gentleness, and longevity.

Antler jewelry is a symbol of instinctive protection, regrowth, and spiritual power.

What is Deer Antler?

The majestic buck is a symbol of strength and power. During the summer months, these noble animals grow antlers that are composed of an intricate and elaborate honeycomb-like structure made from bone-like tissue. This impressive feature serves two purposes: it allows bucks to engage in fights with one another to establish dominance as well as mark their territory.

Antlers drop annually around January through March. This drop process is called “sheds” and the process doesn’t hurt the buck. During the spring and through the summer, the antlers grow back, usually even bigger than the year before.

What is Shed Hunting?

Shed hunting is where people go to open space and forested areas in Weston and other areas where there is a healthy amount of deer population. To find sheds, they must first find deer signs. These indicate where there is deer activity and where there is most likely going to be a shed.

Once sheds are found, people take them and turn them into pieces of art, lighting, and of course jewelry.
